Swan Hotel, Newby Bridge, Ulverston

Newhey Carpets Limited, a leading British manufacturer of high-quality carpets for the hospitality & leisure sector, are proud to have been involved in the recent refurbishment at The Swan Hotel & Spa, situated on the banks of the River Leven on the southern edge of Lake Windemere.

Following a £7million investment, The Swan commissioned award winning, internationally recognised architect DLG to design the extension of this landmark hotel and interior designer Fiona Parke of Johnstone Parke Interiors to take charge of the interior refurbishment.

Keeping within the boundaries of nature, Fiona specified a product which takes inspiration from the surrounding natural beauty of the area. The Natural Wool Collection is a stock collection manufactured using pure undyed British wool with all yarns derived from the natural colour of the sheep’s fleece and containing no colour dyes whatsoever. In total, over 650 square metres of beautiful 80/20 wool rich carpets were supplied for this project. For the guestrooms Fiona specified ‘Herringbone’, a classic uncomplicated design in-keeping with its name and for the corridors ‘Panama’, a smart striped pattern incorporating a herringbone effect, being a common link between the two designs.

Wellness and Wellbeing is a big part of the new generation’s getaway experience therefore the hotel’s aim has been to transform this already stunning hotel into the leading spa destination resort in the Lake District. The extension boasts a state-of-the-art Lakeland spa called ‘The Holte Spa’, including a brand new outdoor and indoor pool, outdoor hot tubs incorporating tranquil seating areas combined with relaxing waterfalls.

All carpets produced by Newhey are all manufactured with an eco-friendly secondary backing called ‘evobac’ which is made using 100% recycled PET post-consumer plastic. Every square metre of carpet supplied prevents at least eight plastic bottles from going to landfill or entering our oceans amounting to over 5,000 plastic bottles for this project alone.
